Puget Ventures Inc. is a mining-exploration company focused on the acquisition and exploration of base metals properties in Ontario, Canada.
In May 2008, the Company acquired an option for a 60-per-cent interest in Trout Bay, a property owned by Goldcorp Inc. in the Red Lake camp in North Western Ontario.
Red Lake, home of the richest gold mine in Canada, is one of the country’s premiere exploration and mining districts.
The exploration of Trout Bay’s Copper-Zinc resource and Nickel-PGE mineralization constitutes the primary focus of Puget’s experienced exploration team. Puget commenced exploration in summer 2008 with a 2000 metre drill program with results that exceeded the historic zinc and copper grades and also provided a new rare metals discovery in Red Lake. The site is accessible for year-round exploration.
Since that time, Puget has moved rapidly to consolidate the historic Werner Lake Mineral Belt, located approximately 70 kilometres south west of Red Lake.
This premiere package of properties stretches 60 kilometres and encompasses a number of historic deposits and former Copper-Cobalt and Nickel-Copper-PGE producers.
The centre piece is the high grade Werner West Copper-Cobalt mine, which Puget will begin resource confirmation and expansion drilling upon in 2009. Werner West is one of the few advanced primary cobalt properties in North America at a time when safe jurisdictions recieve a significant premium.
With the completion of the most recent acquistion, the only other major landholder left in this key belt is Teck.
Puget Ventures trades on the Toronto Venture Exchange under the symbol PVS.
