Canada's Next Primary Cobalt Producer
Werner Lake Belt Properties
The Werner Lake Mineral Belt stretches 60km along highly mineralized strike and consists of approximately 1,700 hectares located in the Kenora Mining District in Northwestern Ontario. The Werner West Cobalt Mine is the flagship Canadian asset and provides the nearest term primary cobalt production in Canada. Historic non NI 43-101 compliant reserves and resources total 1.1 million tones of 0.31% cobalt, 0.29% copper and 0.011 opt gold. Proven category tends to higher grade due to intersection with high-grade material including up to 20% cobalt in underground samples. This deposit was mined at 2% in the 1940s.
- Belt stretches 60 km along highly mineralized strike and encompasses copper, copper-cobalt and nickel-PGE resources
- Land package covers two past producers and at least five historic deposits/resources, including three extremely rare primary cobalt deposits and two significant Ni-Cu-PGE deposits with highly prospective Cu ground at the east end
- More than $12 million spent on the development of the project including a decline shaft and drifts, drilling, environmental, geophysics, metallurgy, feasibility work and mine engineering
- Centre-piece is the pre-development Werner West Copper-Cobalt deposit with 1 million plus tonnes of historic copper, cobalt and gold in all categories
- Teck has right of first refusal on Belt
- Belt classified as Mineral Reserve Area set aside for exploitation of resources
- Mine planning and environmental work advanced
- New drilling results of 1.21% high grade cobalt over 12.30m including 12.48% cobalt over 0.90m affirms property's status as a leading primary cobalt project and moves towards the completion of the NI 43-101 resource report
- Largest land holder in this highly prospective region with significant historic copper, cobalt and nickel-PGE's
